Understanding User Permission Levels

This article provides detailed overviews of the various Permission Levels available in Church Manager and Consolidation Manager.

Consolidation Manager Users

Diocesan Administrator

These users have full control over Consolidation Manager, Options, and Organizations. They can add users at all levels.

Diocesan User

These users have the same permissions as Diocesan Administrators, except they cannot modify any aspects of the Dio Admin role.

Consolidation User

A Consolidation User has limited permissions. He or she can send email, view reports, and change his or her password, but cannot make changes to accounts, permission levels, or to his or her role assignment.

Important! Consolidation Users must be assigned to groups under Consolidation Manager > Set up > Groups. If no group is assigned, Consolidation users will not have access to anything. To learn more, click here!

Church Manager Users

Church Administrator

Important: This only pertains to users who are not part of a greater managing organization, such as a diocese. If you belong to a diocese, you must contact them to add users.

This User level has full control over the organization’s database and users. There is no management of this user’s permissions. Church Administrators can add other new Church Administrators and new Church Users.

Church User

A Diocesan Administrator or Church Administrator can add new users and establish permissions for Church Users, granting or revoking access to various database items.

This user has no access to the Church Manager tab. When adding a new Church User, permission templates can be selected if they have been created.

Most Church Users are assigned a permissions template. To learn more about Permission Templates, click here!

Important for Church Administrators: If an existing Church User with a designated Permissions template shows the notice that Permissions cannot be edited, follow the instructions below to bypass the current permissions template.

If you see the above message on any Church Users permissions, that is because permission templates can only be edited by Diocesan Administrators. However, as a Church Administrator, you can change the permission template assigned to any user.

Navigate to Users > Select User account > Select the permission template called No Template - Customizable Permissions

Don't forget to click Submit to ensure the changes are saved for the Church User.
